THE OTHER SIDE OF NOW
Glinda's Bubble (Caged Bird Records)
The first release by Toledo band Glinda's Bubble is a sophisticate
slice of mature folk-pop. The creative brainchild of Phyllis
Dwyer, a talented singer/songwrier, the group also features
Mark Amos on bass, Jon Dwyer - Phyllis' husband - on guitar,
and their son Steve Dwyer on drums. Echoes of Fleetwood Mac,
Fairport Convention, and even prog rockers Yes show up in the
band's eclectic arrangements, which accent Phyllis Dwyer's intensely
personal lyrics. Her voice is a soaring instrument and the band
is capable of rocking out hard, or shifting into lower gear
on the aptly tited "Soothing and Smoothing."
